GOA FOOD AND DRINKS

There is a wide array of Goan dishes. The best thing to have in monsoon is mushrooms. They are served in selected restaurants with the local "pau" (bread). There are a wide variety of breads too. Breads are in the shape of donuts called "Kaknas " (bangles), "Katriche pau"(crab shaped) and "Poye" (round) are very popular among the locals. Try it out with some piping hot mushroom vegetable dish, which is sharp and spicy. These vegetable dishes are healthy and safe. Mix vegetables (cauliflower, potatoes along with tomatoes)  are served along with some chillies fried in batter in most restaurants. For those who can stomach slightly spicy food could have the "Amot Tik " dish. The Goan curry,  has a sharp tangy and spicy taste made with baby shark  fish. The curry is served with local boiled rice or steamed rice. Its advisable to ask for the type of rice served in the restaurants.
The non vegetarians could have the seasonal fish available, mostly  Kingfish and Pomfret which are stored in ice as Goa government has banned  fishing during monsoons. Crabs and sweet water fish are fresh in monsoon, be sure to instruct the chef how you would like to have it done.
Pork, beef, chicken are fresh and the Goan sausages are a delight. The Goan dishes like Chicken Xacuti, Vindalo, Beef or Prawn Pulav are popular dishes.
The Goan Cashew Feni would just be the hot drink to go along with the spicy food stuff.
Cheers mate!
